ログインしているユーザを表示することができる「who」コマンド。

「man who」で確認すると、以下の説明がありました。

「w」コマンドを「man w」で確認すると、以下の説明になります。

w - Show who is logged on and what they are doing. |
つまり、「who」コマンドは、「w」コマンドのうち「誰がログインしているか」だけを知ることができるコマンドってことですね。
「w」コマンドのほうが多くを知れますし、入力する文字数が1文字で良いので、「who」コマンドをあえて使用するような場面はなさそうです。
